Why The West Capitol Streetscape creates a long-awaited “main street” in the the center of West Sacramento. The project transforms an old highway (US 40) into a walkable and liveable area, ideal for residents and the community. The project represents a major public investment by West Sacramento. The streetscape complements the city’s Civic Center, which includes a college campus, a public library, a soon-to-be-completed Community Center and transportation center. The Streetscape’s Phase 1 will be followed by continuing improvements along West Capitol Avenue, west to Harbor Boulevard.
